Listed as Time Magazines 50 top inventions for 2011, the Invetech / Organovo 3D bio-printer is the first commercial bio-printer in the world capable of generating human tissues. The impact upon surgery and transplantation could be enormous.

The Victorian BioPortal will link you to biotechnology companies, research organisations and universities, industry events, statistics and facts, news, access to infrastructure and specialist biotech services as well as relevant Australian government departments. The Portal incorporates all types of bioindustry including: bioprocessing, biomanufacturing, agricultural biotech, industrial biotech, medical devices, diagnostics and human health biotech. The BioPortal lists sources of public, government funding and venture capital for biotechnology. The BioPortal is maintained by the BioMelbourne Network with a view to progressing bioindustry.
