National Enabling Technology Strategy
The Federal Government committed $38.2 million over four years to the National Enabling Technologies Strategy (NETS) to help Australian industries capitalise on growth opportunities and ensure Australia can benefit from enabling technologies.
Enabling technologies have applications in many fields of science, industry, environment, agriculture and social outcomes such as health. They are the basis for building knowledge intensive industries that can provide sustainable, high-skill, high-wage jobs for Australians.
Commercialisation Australia
Commercialisation Australia is designed to boost early stage commercialisation by helping businesses leverage private sector capital and expertise. The program provides companies with specialist advice and services to build the linkages and skills needed to commercialise their ideas, and financial support for proof-of-concept and early-stage commercialisation activities.
Industrial Biotechnology Strategy
The Industrial Biotechnology Strategy highlights the benefits that industrial applications of biotechnology can offer Australian companies. The aim of the Strategy is to enhance the development of internationally competitive and sustainable business through adoption of relevant biotechnologies across industry.
Education Investment Fund
The Education Investment Fund (EIF) was announced in the 2008-09 Budget and is a major component of the Government's Education Revolution. The role of the EIF is to build a modern, productive, internationally competitive Australian economy by supporting world-leading, strategically-focused infrastructure investments that will transform Australian tertiary education and research.
Super Science
The Super Science Initiative was announced in May 2009 and will contribute $1.1 billion to priority areas of Australian research until 2013. $901 million of this money is for research infrastructure that will make a lasting contribution to Australian science. These infrastructure investments are being funded from the Education Investment Fund (EIF), which is one of the three Nation-building Funds established by the Nation-building Funds Act 2008.
Preventive Health Research Grants Program
The Preventive Health Research Grants Program funds preventive health research projects that can be used to develop evidence-based policy and program decisions.
